What Is a Comprehensive Plan?
A Comprehensive Plan is a long-term guide for the future of the community. It helps Tyrone think ahead and make better decisions, not just for today, but for the next decade.
The plan covers issues like:
Housing and neighborhoods
Downtown and local businesses
Streets, sidewalks, and transportation
Water, sewer, and infrastructure
Flooding and drainage
Parks and recreation
Vacant and underused properties

A Comprehensive Plan does not decide every future project. It provides a framework for making better decisions about what Tyrone should protect, improve, and pursue.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Comprehensive Plan?
A long-term guide that helps a municipality make coordinated decisions about its future: covering housing, transportation, infrastructure, development, community facilities, recreation, and economic development.
Is the Comprehensive Plan a law?
No. It is primarily a policy and decision-making guide. Some future actions may later require separate ordinances, budgets, studies, or public processes.
Why should I participate?
People experience Tyrone differently. Your input helps the Borough understand what residents value, what problems exist, what opportunities people see, and what they want Tyrone to become.
Is the community survey anonymous?
Yes. The survey does not ask for your name, email address, or house number.
Will every idea in the survey become part of the plan?
No. Community ideas are one important source of evidence. They will be considered alongside technical information, feasibility, costs, Borough responsibilities, and funding opportunities.
How will my input be used?
Responses will be analyzed for themes, priorities, geographic patterns, and areas of agreement or disagreement. Those findings will inform the plan's future directions and priorities.
Is the plan only about downtown?
No. The plan considers the Borough as a whole: neighborhoods, housing, businesses, transportation, infrastructure, flooding, parks, recreation, community facilities, and development.
Is this only for people who live in Tyrone?
No. People who work, attend school, own property or a business, or otherwise have a meaningful connection to Tyrone are also encouraged to participate.
Will there be other ways to participate besides the survey?
Yes. The planning process will include additional community outreach and opportunities to comment as the work progresses.
When will the plan be finished?
The plan is developed through staged research, engagement, analysis, planning, review, and adoption. Project progress and upcoming opportunities will be posted on this site.
